Saskia is an acclaimed filmmaker, who grew up in South Africa. She studied theology in Amsterdam and film & photography at the University of Westminster, London, and graduated as a director, writer and producer from the Dutch Film Academy. She holds a post-graduate from the Binger Film Institute, Amsterdam.
She has made over 25 creative documentaries of which many have been selected for prestigious international film festivals, received prizes, and were broadcasted internationally. Besides teaching filmmaking at several institutions, sitting in advisory committees, she does camerawork and photograph and produces her own art films for museums.

She is currently working on “A Fool’s Paradise” a documentary feature film, which is being produced during 2017 and 2018 as a co-production between the Netherlands and South Africa. The South African Co-Producer is Marc Schwinges of Johannesburg based, Underdog Productions (www.underdog.co.za), and the Dutch Co-Producer is Pieter van Huystee of Amsterdam based, Pieter van Huystee Film & TV (www.pvhfilm.nl).
This film will be the directors most personal yet, and reflects her journey both physically and spiritually as she connects intimately with the racist apartheid country of her birth, and asks herself what affect that, the environment of her childhood, has had on her life ever since. She asks herself the brave question, which two few people have dared to ask: 'Am I a racist, having grown up in a racist country?’
